Grower Contracts

Attached is a sample contract outlining our basic agreement with our growers. As your partner in the production of confection and dehull sunflower seeds, we aim to be as transparent as possible in the contractual process.

General Contract Information

Each contract is custom suited to meet the needs of both Dahlgren and you, the farmer. Still, there are a few common traits all Dahlgren & Company, Inc. contracts share.

  1. The grower agrees to plant X amount of acres.
  2. Dahlgren & Company, Inc. agrees to purchase X pounds of product at a fixed price.
    • For the 2010, growing season that price is $25/cwt.
  3. Dahlgren & Company, Inc. has first rights to any surplus. If we decline, you can sell it on the open market.
  4. The grower must plant approved Dahlgren & Company, Inc. seed varieties.
  5. The grower may only use EPA approved herbicides, fungicides and insecticides.
  6. The end product must meet our quality standards.
  7. Growers must promptly notify Dahlgren & Company, Inc. if the crop is damaged.
  8. Contracts are “Act of God” protected so in the unfortunate event of hail or another damaging effect of nature, you are not required to fulfill the contract.
  9. Storage incentives are also available to accomodate your desired delivery schedule.
